Volunteer

It is through the choice to serve others that we truly begin to live for God and allow him to use us according to his divine plan.  The secret to joyful service, is to find a ministry that speaks to your individual talents and gifts.  If you are working for others while using the gifts that God gave you, the work is a joy!

Here are some of the many service opportunities here at the Church of the Annunciation:

Teach the Faith

Annunciation needs parishioners to form, evangelize and inspire others in their Catholic faith. Wheter they are new Catholics just coming into the faith through R.C.I.A., or children learning about their Catholic faith for the first time in Religious Education, as a catechist, you can be a part of their formation and growth in the love of Christ!  You don’t have to be an expert in theology… in fact, the more you teach, the more you will learn.  Please contact Patrice Morace if you feel called to this ministry at 202-362-3323  x13 or morace@annunciationdc.

Feed the Hungry

Annunciaiton has several ministries that allow parishioners to provide food to the less fortunate.  You can work with S.O.M.E. (So Others Might Eat) by making a caserole once a month  in the comfort of your own home and then take it to the church freezer where the meals will await pick up by a SOME volunteer.  Recipes and casserole pans can be found in the church hallway.

You can also go to St. Lukes Men’s Shelter down the street to prepare and serve meals to the residents while making new friends.  Contact Bill Maksymiec at 202-248-7467 for more information about St. Luke’s ministry.

Volunteer with the Elderly

The Church of the Annunciation has parishioners of all ages.  This offers us a unique opportunity to serve one another in need.  If you wish to help an elderly person with daily tasks of shopping, yard work, cleaning at home, etc.  Please contact Sr. Kathleen Griffin at 202-362-3323  x22 or kgriffin3@verizon.net.

Serve the Liturgy

Every liturgy at the Church of the Annunciation is a community event.  Each Mass requires volunteers to lend their time and talent to proclaim the liturgy of the word, help distribute Communion, serve at the altar, sing, greet parishioners, etc.  If you would like to serve at the parish liturgy in some capacity, please contact Patrice Morace at 202-362-3323  x13 or morace@annunciationdc.org.

Organize Events

Some  of the events of our parish can only be accomplished through the many hands of our parishioners organizing and putting things together.  Some of these events are the Bazaar, the Clothing Drive, the Parish Picnic, Coffee & Donuts after Mass, and more.  Please contact Patrice Morace at 202-362-3323 or morace@annunciationdc.org to see which event or activity you might be able to help with.
