20th Sunday in Ordinary Time - August 20, 2017

Our readings could not be more timely, given so much debate regarding refugees and all those who are different from us ... whether culturally, racially, economically, religiously or in any other way. As we turn to scripture, we hear these questions: Who are worthy to be God’s people? Who are worthy to hear the good news? The answers are that Israel is open to all; and the disciples are to be open to all. All are worthy in God’s sight. The message for us could not be clearer. In order to be God's people we need to show his love to all those we encounter peacefully. Let us all devote some prayer time to pray for peace...in our streets, in our communities and throughout our world.
