Dear Parishioners and Friends of Annunciation,
The news about the Pandemic Corona Virus and what we are asked to do to mitigate its effects keeps us ever vigilant. If you want the latest news from the Archdiocese of Washington you may go to the website adw.org/coronavirus/. You may use www.cdc.gov for the news from the Centers for Disease Control. At this time we have cancelled ALL Public Masses and Liturgical Services. Archbishop Gregory has given a dispensation to all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Washington from their Sunday obligation to attend Mass. You may go to https://adw.org/parishes-masses/sunday-tv-mass/ for Sunday Mass. Other opportunities to view Mass will be found Sunday at 10:30am. on WDCW-50:
- No cable; Dish or Direct TV subscribers: Ch. 50
- Comcast: Ch. 23 in Washington, DC and Montgomery County; Ch. 3 in Prince George’s County and Southern Maryland
- RCN: Ch. 15
- Verizon: Ch. 3
We will not have Square Dancing, the 65th Anniversary Gala for school, Parish Mission, Lenten Young at Heart Luncheon, school and religious education classes are cancelled until the week of March 29. The school and religious education are prepared to do online classes. We will try to keep you updated through emails and Flocknotes, https://AnnunciationCatholicChu1.flocknote.com/everyone; Parish website, http://www.annunciationdc.org/; School website, https://annunciationschool.net/. We are sanitizing the Church and School.
We will still have confessions on Wednesday from 11:30am to 12:30pm and Saturday from 4:15pm to 5:15pm. We will not have Eucharistic Adoration on Wednesdays nor Stations of the Cross. If you are not attending Mass and are watching Mass on TV, you may make a Spiritual Communion by praying either of these two prayers.
“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.”
“O Jesus, I turn toward the Holy Tabernacle where You live hidden for love of me. I love you, O my God. I cannot receive you in Holy Communion. Come, nevertheless, and visit me with Your grace. Come spiritually into my heart. Purify it. Sanctify it. Render it like unto Your own. Amen. Lord, I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.”
When it comes to Holy Week Services, we will have to make decisions at that time knowing that many more people come to church services on Easter. At the present time our schedule is as follows.

Remembering we are a community of believers who follow the Lord’s commands of love of God with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength, let us also remember to love our neighbors as well. We are responsible to each other to do what is in the common good. Lift up in prayer all those infected with this disease and call upon the Lord to help us in our time of need.
May the Lord protect us, deliver us from evil and bring us to everlasting life.
