Washington Hebrew Congregation, St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, and Annunciation Catholic Church have a long history of sharing Thanksgiving meals with our neighbors. Even in this time of social distancing, we are working together to make a difference. While we wish we could gather and share a communal Thanksgiving meal, our commitment is to keep everyone safe. In keeping with COVID protocols, Washington Hebrew will purchase all the food and use in-house staff to prepare it in advance. A small group of registered volunteers will help assemble and distribute these prepackaged meals on Thanksgiving Day between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. To ensure the health and safety of our volunteers and community members, all volunteers must register for a shift in advance. We are accepting volunteers until all the positions are filled. To volunteer please contact Layne Weiss at lweiss@whctemple.org or 202-895-6307.
Community members can pick up free Thanksgiving meals between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm from Washington Hebrew Congregation: 3935 Macomb St. NW, Washington, DC 20016
Unable to volunteer? Your financial donations will off-set some of the cost. Sponsor a $20 meal. Each meal will contain enough food to feed two people. With our combined efforts, we hope to distribute 250 meals.
